Former Colchester United striker Conor Wilkinson has agreed to a loan move to Boreham Wood that will last until around mid-December. The player, aged 31, departed Colchester by mutual agreement earlier this year and is now aiming for consistent playing opportunities in the National League.

Wilkinson became a Colchester player after transferring from Motherwell at the start of 2024, but he was limited to coming off the bench on eight occasions in League Two. Following his exit, he played for Solihull Moors and ended the last campaign as that club's leading scorer, netting 13 times in 25 league games.

Boreham Wood manager Luke Garrard said he was pleased to complete the signing, noting that Wilkinson would provide an attacking presence and increase options up front. Garrard also mentioned he has been a fan of the player for a while and is confident he will suit the team's approach perfectly.

Wilkinson described his choice to join as simple. "Once I heard that the club were interested, it was pretty much an easy decision," he stated. The attacker, who has previously played for Bolton and Millwall, continued, "I just want to come and play football, enjoy it and be in a really positive environment."

Colchester are now getting ready for their upcoming League Two match versus Cheltenham Town this weekend. The team currently holds 13th position, having accumulated 8 points from their first six games, a sequence featuring two victories, two ties, and two losses. Details of the team, which included Wilkinson until not long ago, can be found on the club's squad page.

Wilkinson's temporary stay at Boreham Wood is scheduled to conclude in the middle of December.
