Colchester United have confirmed the permanent signing of Kylian Kouassi from Blackpool ahead of their League Two clash at Bristol Rovers on Tuesday. The 23-year-old striker joins on a two-year deal for an undisclosed fee after leaving Bloomfield Road, where he scored six times in 28 games across two seasons.

Blackpool confirmed Kouassi’s departure after agreeing terms with Colchester United, with manager Ian Evatt praising the forward’s professionalism and work ethic. Kouassi had loan spells at Salford City and Cambridge United before returning to Blackpool, where he made cameo appearances including a EFL Cup goal against Grimsby Town. His arrival adds depth to a front line that has scored five goals in four League Two games this season.

Colchester United FC released an away day guide for the trip to Memorial Stadium, noting the 190-mile journey from Essex takes around three hours by car via the M25 and M4, or by train with a change at London Paddington. Supporters are advised to use public transport as parking is unavailable at the stadium, with the nearest stop at Ashley Down station, a 20-minute walk from the ground.

Colchester suffered a 2-0 defeat at Bristol Rovers, with Tom James and Ellis Harrison scoring for the hosts. Ellis Iandolo had a first-half header disallowed for pushing, while Moses Sesay and Iandolo saw late efforts blocked. Danny Cowley made three changes, handing Jaden Williams his first league start since April and recalling Frankie Terry and Paul Digby.

Colchester United FC confirmed Samson Tovide has joined Huddersfield Town following the expiry of his contract, after making 151 appearances and scoring 21 goals for the U’s. Meanwhile, former Colchester loanee Josh Powell has joined Northampton Town on a season-long loan from Nottingham Forest, having spent the first half of 2025/26 on loan at Colchester and made 14 appearances.
