John-Kymani Gordon has signed for Australian A-League side Central Coast Mariners after being released by Colchester United. The 23-year-old winger will join the Mariners subject to receiving the required visa and work permit.
Gordon arrived at Colchester from Crystal Palace in the summer of 2024. He made 67 league and cup appearances for the U's across two seasons, scoring 10 goals. His time at the club concluded last term with a loan spell at National League side Rochdale. He also spent pre-season training with AFC Wimbledon under Johnnie Jackson.
Central Coast Mariners' director of football Matt Simon highlighted Gordon's versatility and experience. "John-Kymani is a player we're really excited to bring to the Central Coast," Simon said. He described the forward as quick and direct, comfortable playing in several positions across the front line. Simon noted Gordon's background at Crystal Palace and said the player's hunger to prove himself at the next level made him a perfect fit for the club's recruitment vision.
Simon added.
Gordon himself expressed his eagerness to begin. "I'm really excited to be here, and I can't wait to get started," he said.
The move marks a fresh start for Gordon as Colchester handle their own campaign. The U's currently sit 19th in League Two with 10 points from eight games. Their recent form shows four draws and one defeat from the last five matches, a run you can review on our standings page. They face Newport County away this weekend, a fixture listed on our fixtures schedule.
His departure concludes a two-year spell at the JobServe Community Stadium, with the club now looking ahead to their next league contest. Colchester United wished Gordon well for his future in Australia.
