Colchester United midfielder Jay Williams has received an international call-up to the St Kitts and Nevis squad for their upcoming Concacaf Nations League fixtures. The 25-year-old will miss the U's next two matches as he travels to join his national team.

Williams, who joined Colchester from Crawley Town on deadline day earlier this month, has made three appearances for the League Two side. He will link up with the Sugar Boyz for their Group C matches against Grenada and Cuba.

Colchester manager Danny Cowley welcomed the news. "We're really pleased to have him and he has some real qualities that we love in players," Cowley said.

Williams's absence comes as Colchester prepare for a trip to face Shrewsbury Town next Saturday.

This marks Williams's second senior call-up, following his first in March 2024. His international duty means he will also be unavailable for Colchester's EFL Trophy group stage match at home to Luton Town. The club's full squad list is available online.
