Colchester lost 2-1 to Bristol Rovers at the Memorial Stadium on Tuesday, with Ellis Harrison netting the winner in the third minute of stoppage time. Tom James opened the scoring for Rovers after 27 minutes with a volley from outside the box that left goalkeeper Thimothee Lo-Tutala stranded.
Steve Evans' side went ahead when James pounced on a defensive error, firing past Lo-Tutala after Colchester failed to clear a corner. The goal came shortly after James had celebrated a similar effort in their 2-0 win at Crawley the previous weekend.
After the break, Moses Sesay saw a long-range effort drift wide before Brad Young blocked a powerful shot from a Southampton loanee. Colchester pushed for an equaliser but were caught on the break as Harrison tucked home Tommy Leigh's cross to seal the victory.
Danny Cowley protested to the fourth official when Ellis Iandolo's header appeared to cross the line following Jack Payne's corner, but referee Alex Chilowicz awarded a free-kick for holding instead, much to the Essex side's frustration.
Colchester remain in mid-table as they prepare to face Crawley Town next Saturday, a fixture available on our fixtures page. The squad continues to integrate recent loanees, with full details accessible via our squad page.
